With its 2-liter, 4 cylinder, fuel injected engine, the car achieves 115 hp at 5,500 revs and has a theoretical top speed of almost 140 mph, although brave is the soul that attempts thisprobably no surviving Spider of this vintage could achieve it, thanks to anno domini. But thats not the point. These are desirable sports cars because they are big fun to drive, have no pretentions to go to extremes, and are absolutely gorgeous to gaze upon. The long, low Pininfarina design was little changed over the long run of the Spider, and with good reason. Its to die for. The car I drove came with a hardtop, which is a good thing, given that the canvas top can be somewhat frail.
